The Research Association for Welding and Allied Processes e. V. of the DVS has had a new Executive Board since January 1, 2020. Chairman Dr.-Ing. Godehard Schmitz relinquished his office after 16 years on December 31, 2019. His deputy, Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Scheller, also did not stand for re-election, as he will be involved in the DVS committees in the future. In October, Dr.-Ing. Johannes Weiser was therefore elected as the new Chairman and 
Dr.-Ing. Axel Meyer as the new Deputy Chairman by the members of the Research Council. The Research Council performs a steering and coordination function.
