The Solingen-based automotive supplier BIA is expanding its production capacities in the Asian market. The new plant in Qinhuangdao, China, started series production in November 2019. Initially with one electroplating system, BIA chrome-plates components here primarily for car manufacturers whose production facilities are also located in northern China. These include Volvo, Volkswagen, Mercedes and FAW. The company is thus following its previous strategy of operating close to the markets of its own customers.
The plastic components to be chrome-plated are also produced directly on site. Raw part production has started here with six injection molding machines. Both trivalent and hexavalent chrome plating can be carried out in Qinhuangdao.
