New Dürr rectifier: more power with less energy consumption

Dürr's new EcoDC MACS rectifier for cathodic dip painting delivers 50 percent more power with the same space requirement. This allows the layout of new systems to be designed more flexibly and the capacity of existing systems to be increased more easily. Thanks to the increased efficiency, the new rectifier also saves energy and reduces operating and investment costs.

With conventional thyristor rectifiers, the cathodic dip coating (CDC) process could previously only be divided into a few areas. If a rectifier failed, a large part of the coating current was missing. The consequences: faulty coating and an unusable car body. This risk no longer exists with EcoDC MACS, as Dürr has divided the previously large thyristor rectifiers into many small rectifier modules, each of which only supplies voltage to a small section of the dip bath. If a rectifier fails, this no longer affects the coating quality. As the smaller units cost only a fraction of the price, the investment for replacement units is significantly reduced.

Another advantage of the division into many small units: EcoDC MACS controls small anode groups down to the individual anode. This allows the voltage in the dip tank to be regulated much more precisely and enables optimized voltage profiles - flexibly designed for a wide range of body models.
