The installation of cylindrical strain gages - used to measure strain, force and vibration in bolts - is made much easier thanks to a special new adhesive called EP70.
Bolts are used as fasteners in a variety of components such as engines, turbines, fans, generators, wheels and propellers. They are usually tubular in shape, making it difficult to monitor their behavior with a typically flat strain gauge. Cylindrically shaped strain gages can be used instead, but their design makes them more difficult to install on test objects.
To solve this problem, HBK has developed the EP70 adhesive, which engineers can use to safely and reliably attach cylindrical strain gages inside bolts. The adhesive cures when exposed to temperature and is suitable for use in applications with a wide temperature range (from -40 to 70 °C), making it ideal for testing in many industries such as automotive, transportation and manufacturing.
