Submission deadline for the ACHEMA Media Prize extended - journalistic contributions on science and technology wanted

The ACHEMA Media Prize is looking for journalistic contributions from print, radio, television or the Internet that make science and technology transparent to a broad public. The main prize is endowed with 10,000 €. Due to the postponement of ACHEMA, the submission deadline will be extended until September 30, 2021.

The ACHEMA Media Award is presented every three years during ACHEMA. Due to the current situation, the world's largest trade fair for processes and equipment for the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries will take place in Frankfurt am Main from April 4-8, 2022. "Since the award ceremony will not take place until April 2022, we have decided to adjust the submission deadline accordingly," explains Prof. Dr. Kurt Wagemann, Executive Director of DECHEMA. "Although we have already received a large number of submissions, we can still consider more recent publications." The ACHEMA Media Award is open to all media genres, whether print, moving image, audio or blog. In the past, submissions of all formats have been recognized.

Well-researched and comprehensibly presented journalistic contributions are the basis for making science and technology transparent for society and making them tangible in everyday life. This is also a concern of DECHEMA Gesellschaft für Chemische Technik und Biotechnologie e.V., which has been awarding the prize every three years since 1997.

The ACHEMA Media Prize is awarded to the authors of media contributions that make science and technology transparent to the general public. The focus is on chemistry, process engineering and biotechnology, but also on related topics such as environmental technology. For the first time, three contributions will be honored: The main prize is endowed with 10,000 euros. The second prize is worth 5,000 euros and the author of the third-placed entry will receive 3,000 euros. The ACHEMA Media Award will be presented at ACHEMA in Frankfurt in April 2022.

Contributions from print media, television, radio or online media (as text, videocast or podcast etc.) can be submitted until September 30, 2021. They should have been published between January 1, 2018 and September 30, 2021. The ACHEMA Media Prize is awarded by the DECHEMA Executive Board on the recommendation of a jury consisting of representatives from industry, universities and the media.

Natural or legal persons are eligible for nomination. Further information and submission of entries at www.achema.de/medienpreis.
