Successful online premiere: DVS CONGRESS 2020 informs the professional world for five days

A good 320 visitors met online for the first time at the DVS CONGRESS from September 14 to 18, 2020. Participants from Brazil and the USA also took part in the extensive technical program on "Additive Manufacturing", "Occupational Safety", "Modern Welding Processes", "Surface Technology" and many other topics from joining, cutting and coating technology. The DVS - Deutscher Verband für Schweißen und verwandte Verfahren e. V. (German Welding Society), as the organizer, was satisfied with the course of events, the results and the consistently positive response.

"We were a little nervous when the first lecture of the DVS CONGRESS took place online, but we were well prepared so that everything worked wonderfully," said Simone Weinreich, organizer of the event and head of the "Transfer & Network" department at DVS. Within just two months, DVS and its associated company DVS Media GmbH had designed and organized the annual congress online for the first time. The fact that this led to such a successful result is also thanks to the speakers of the specialist lectures. Weinreich explains: "Without the large number of presentations, the DVS CONGRESS would not have been able to take place in this form. Special thanks therefore go to all those who prepared their presentations and answered questions during the event in a live link-up."

This is also how Amelie Felde, B.A., Digital Media at DVS Media, sees it: "In just a few weeks, the speakers set their presentations to music, usually even with video recordings, and then joined in live to answer questions from the platform visitors. The cooperation with them and also with the moderators and our technical support was excellent." Felde, who was responsible for the technical implementation and support of the DVS CONGRESS together with two colleagues, sees the format as a solution that could be a trend-setter for other DVS online events.

In addition to the presentations and the chat function, a discussion forum and the opportunity to network were also available online as part of the DVS CONGRESS.

The next DVS CONGRESS is planned for September 14-17, 2021 in Essen.
