Due to the current crisis situation surrounding the coronavirus, the organizers of SurfaceTechnology GERMANY are postponing the international trade fair for surface technology. The event originally planned for June has been moved to the fall. It will now take place from October 27 to 29, 2020 in Stuttgart - parallel to parts2clean.
The current coronavirus pandemic has far-reaching consequences for the trade fair industry. SurfaceTechnology GERMANY in Stuttgart now also has to be postponed. The new date is October 27 to 29, 2020. "We were well on track with our preparations, but we have no choice," says Olaf Daebler, Global Director of SurfaceTechnology GERMANY. "Postponing SurfaceTechnology GERMANY is unavoidable due to the decree situation in Baden-Württemberg. However, we are pleased that we have found a timely date for the surface technology industry, which will then be able to push new business from Stuttgart in the fall after the current crisis-related slowdown."
The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Social Affairs has instructed the health authorities to cancel all major events with more than 1,000 participants by decree for an indefinite period of time. This also includes SurfaceTechnology GERMANY. After all, a trade fair needs lead time and planning security. With the new date, the international trade fair for surface technology will be held parallel to parts2clean at the Stuttgart Exhibition Center - SurfaceTechnology GERMANY in Halls 5 and 7, parts2clean in Halls 7 and 9.
This creates a situation that already existed in 2014 and 2016. Back then, the two events had already run in parallel. And even then, the two trade fairs shared one of a total of three halls. "There are good synergy effects between SurfaceTechnology GERMANY and parts2clean," says Daebler, who is responsible for both trade fairs in the Deutsche Messe AG team. "Some of the visitors will be very interested in visiting both trade fairs."
While SurfaceTechnology GERMANY covers the entire spectrum of surface technology, parts2clean showcases industrial parts and surface cleaning for all user industries.
The partners of SurfaceTechnology GERMANY also support the postponement of the trade fair to the new date in the fall.
Christoph Matheis, Managing Director of the German Surface Technology Association (ZVO):
"Trade fairs work when a sufficient number of relevant companies and decision-makers from all over the world come together. Neither is possible in the current situation. The postponement of SurfaceTechnology GERMANY is therefore the right decision. With this measure, Deutsche Messe AG and the members of the trade fair advisory board are doing their part to protect exhibitors, stand personnel and visitors, break the chain of infection and contain the spread of the pandemic. The ZVO fully supports the decision of Deutsche Messe AG, supports the goal of holding a successful event in the fall and will do everything possible to ensure a successful trade fair for exhibitors and visitors in October. Until then, it is important that the economic slump caused by the coronavirus is contained."
Dr. Thomas Schräder, Managing Director General Air Technology at the German Engineering Federation (VDMA):
"The mechanical engineering and surface technology sectors are increasingly affected by the corona crisis. Supply chains have been disrupted and restrictions in the target industries are becoming more severe. Under these circumstances, we support the postponement of SurfaceTechnology GERMANY 2020 to the fall. Organizing it in parallel with parts2clean is the obvious and best solution."
