After a successful premiere in 2019, the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT is launching the second Laser Symposium Electromobility - LSE'20 on February 12, 2020 in Aachen. For two days, the focus will be on highly efficient laser processes for the entire process chain in the production of batteries and electric cars. Highlights include a presentation by Swiss company E-Force One AG on the electrification of trucks.
2020 is the key year for the electromobilization of the global vehicle industry: from this year onwards, the CO2 fleet limits set by the EU will be binding for the first time. This fact is also reflected in the growing interest in events on the production of electric cars and batteries. These include Fraunhofer ILT's first one-day Laser Symposium on Electromobility, which took place in Aachen in February 2019 and was fully booked with 60 participants.
At the request of many participants, the event started on February 12 with a guided tour of the Fraunhofer ILT laboratory. An exclusive insight into current research projects will be followed by 16 presentations at the institute, for example on laser processes in battery production, laser beam sources in electromobility and production systems in laser material processing. The topics of process monitoring, laser manufacturing processes and laser-based processing of solid-state batteries will also be highlighted. The Aachen-based company is relying on its tried-and-tested concept: not only will research have its say, the focus will once again be on industrial practice.
