DECHEMA Student Awards 2019: Biotechnologists, technical chemists and chemical engineers honored

The student prizes are awarded in recognition of outstanding academic achievements over a short period of study. The award winners, who completed their studies this year with a Master's degree, come from the Technical University of Dortmund, the Technical University of Clausthal, the KIT - Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the Technical University of Munich. Katrin Köhnke, Technical University of Dortmund, was honored in the field of technical chemistry. She worked on "Crystallization as a recycling concept in the methoxycarbonylation of oleic acid methyl ester".
In the field of chemical process engineering/chemical engineering, the student prizes went to Ramona Bier, Technical University of Munich, Jörn Brauns, Clausthal University of Technology, Anna-Maria Eckel, KIT - Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and Daniel Helmdach, Technical University of Munich. Ramona Bier from the Technical University of Munich examined "Carbon-supported catalysts - from carbonization and synthesis to planning a test stand" in her thesis.
Jörn Brauns from Clausthal University of Technology dealt with the "Commissioning of a pressure-driven alkaline water electrolysis and investigation of the product gas quality".
Anna-Maria Eckel from KIT - Karlsruhe Institute of Technology dealt with "LES (Large Eddy Simulation) of turbulent mixed convection in liquid metal flowing through a concentric annular gap". Daniel Helmdach from the Technical University of Munich dealt with "Identification and simulation of processes for CO2 utilization".
