Weerg's new solution for replacing metal

Weerg is expanding its range of 3D printable materials with the new Extreme™ Carbon Fiber+PA12, developed by its in-house R&D department. It is a thermoplastic polymer in high-tech yarn that combines and optimizes the advantages of the two materials of which it is composed, guaranteeing advanced mechanical properties, dimensional stability and resistance to chemicals. To process this material, Weerg has also implemented 6 new 3D printing systems with FDM technology dedicated to production with the new Extreme™ material. These high-performance solutions complement the existing 12 HP Multi Jet Fusion 5210 industrial printers, resulting in a state-of-the-art 3D printing production facility that is unique in Europe.

Specially formulated to replace metal, Extreme™ Carbon Fiber+PA12 offers stiffness and XYZ flexural strength that surpasses classic PA12, with performance similar to aluminum 5083. Plus points also include extreme lightness, resulting from the 15% straight infill, and excellent chemical resistance to oils, greases, aliphatic and alkaline hydrocarbons. Extreme™ Carbon Fiber+PA12 also absorbs very little moisture, a property that guarantees optimum performance in all conditions, even outdoors and in sub-zero temperatures. The material is currently available in a natural black finish, while retaining its mechanical properties. It is ideal for applications that require the right combination of stiffness, strength and durability and can therefore be used in a wide range of sectors - from automotive, biomedical and design to aerospace.

"We have invested in expanding our R&D department to accelerate the testing of the most innovative open-source materials, with the aim of further expanding our offering in the 3D printing sector," explains Matteo Rigamonti, founder of Weerg. This sector has seen exponential growth in the last year and is increasingly seeing the need for new materials to be used in certain industrial processes. "The launch of Extreme™ allows us to make online proposals for combining high-performance metals and versatile additive manufacturing in the production of parts and components. In doing so, we take advantage of all the plus points that characterize the weerg.com platform, including the extremely competitive costs," adds Rigamonti.

In fact, the Italian service, which offers online CNC machining and 3D printing, has always stood out on the international market for the quality of its offerings, which are based on advantages such as 100% "Made in Italy" quality, latest-generation technologies and automated workflows that make the company highly competitive thanks to their scalability. Added to this are all the advantages of the service based purely on e-commerce, from the exclusive online offer to the secure delivery date.

The launch of the new Extreme™ Carbon Fibre+PA12 will be supported by a promotional campaign offering interesting discounts for customers who decide to test the performance of the material. In addition, Weerg has already announced that further materials will be launched in the coming weeks to complement the current range. In addition to the new Extreme™ Carbon Fiber+PA12, which is printed using FDM technology, Weerg offers 3D processing in Nylon PA12, Nylon PA11 and Polypropylene, which are produced using HP MJF technology, as well as resin. The ABS-like gray resin is produced with MSLA LED with the exclusive proprietary technology 4KSPER™ TECHNOLOGY.
