Dr. Bernd Grünler is a personality who combines science, business and politics in a unique way. Now aged 65, he has accomplished a life's work that goes far beyond research.
Dr. Grünler knows how to bring together players from different fields in a transdisciplinary manner. He has initiated numerous successful networks that are active throughout Germany. With his commitment to innovative material and surface technologies, he provides important impetus for industry and drives new developments forward.
A particular achievement is his key role in the ZUSE community, which was founded in 2015 and networks independent industrial research institutions across Germany. As a member of the Executive Committee, he is a strong advocate of technology-open, practice-oriented research and strengthens the importance of these institutes in the innovation system. For more than 10 years, he was a board member of the Association of Innovative Companies (VIU) e.V. His commitment was recently honored by his appointment to the scientific advisory board of the Oskar Patzelt Foundation's "Großer Preis des Mittelstandes".
