Die Oberfläche im Fokus / The surface in focus
The annual Aachen Surface Colloquium of the Institute of Surface Technology (IOT) at RWTH Aachen University under the direction of Prof. Kirsten Bobzin was an exchange of experience on materials, processes and applications. New topics were successfully presented and discussed in the SuperC university building at RWTH Aachen University on December 9 last year.
The lecture program consisted of nine interesting technical presentations on the topics of PVD, thermal spraying, soldering, materials and coating technology as well as a poster exhibition. This was followed by the annual general meeting of the Förderverein Institut Oberflächentechnik (IOT) e.V., in which Kirsten Bobzin reported in particular on the latest figures and changes at the institute. A total of eight new research projects were funded in 2022. Particularly noteworthy is the approval of the Collaborative Research Center SFB 1120 "Precision from Melt" with three IOT sub-projects. In addition, four new employees have been recruited so that a wide range of surface technology topics can continue to be discussed intensively in Aachen in the future.
