As part of the "Research Campus Public-Private Partnership for Innovation" funding initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Digital Photonic Production (DPP) research campus is creating a joint structure in which a new form of cooperation is being practiced - together, over many years and under one roof.
Partners from science and industry define, research and answer questions in photonics with a focus on the use of lasers as a tool for the manufacturing industry of the future. For this joint research work, the campus will be sustainably funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research with up to 2 million euros per year over a total period of 15 years.
To mark UNESCO's International Day of Light on May 16, 2025, the research campus provided information about the economic importance of laser technology, the DPP's current research priorities and the potential of light as an industrial tool.
