State innovation prize for new diamond micro-precision tools

Zecha Hartmetall-Werkzeugfabrikation GmbH is launching new diamond tools in the micro range with the Iguana tool family. The high-end tools are multi-cutters in the small diameter range with sharp cutting edges and a highly wear-resistant, closed diamond coating and are tailored to the machining of abrasive or temperature-sensitive materials.

The Zecha laser processing (R=1μm) of the diamond coating also contributes to this. A high-quality multi-layer diamond coating is required for subsequent laser processing. Thanks to its patented combination of several diamond layers, it guarantees optimum adhesion and stops cracks at the same time. The high thermal conductivity of the diamond coating ensures rapid heat dissipation, which is extremely important when processing temperature-sensitive materials such as CFRP and GFRP and enables a higher processing speed during machining.

The innovative Zecha laser processing of the diamond coating has resulted in tools that are particularly well suited to disarming World War II ammunition under water thanks to their extreme process development.

Sharpness, multiple cutting edges, spiralization, miniaturization, extreme wear resistance, very long tool life and therefore very high process reliability.
