Kyocera's new series of floating board-to-board connectors with a 0.5 mm pitch (F/P[1] = 170 %) are suitable for high-speed data transmission at 16 Gbps. They are marketed under the series designation 5652 and have a tolerance of ±0.85 mm to enable simple and precise mating. For the first time, Kyocera is using the new brand name FloXY, which refers to floating board-to-board connectors for high-speed data transmission in automotive applications as well as for industrial or communication systems. The product range will be gradually expanded in the future. Development was driven by upcoming trends and the increased demand for smart cars, electric vehicles, driver assistance systems and autonomous driving: Essential for these systems are devices in the car, such as mobility computers, IVI1 and LiDAR, which require connectors that can support latency-free high-speed data transmission on a large scale.
