San Diego-based semiconductor manufacturer Qualcomm Incorporated is best known for its products for mobile communications. The world's sixth-largest semiconductor manufacturer has launched the Snapdragon 888 5G Mobile Platform, the flagship of its product series of the same name. It includes professional-quality camera/image processing functions, personal assistant functionality and gaming performance.
With its 'Snapdragon Enable Program', the manufacturer also supports developers in making optimum use of the functions and designing them into their products. This is where COmponent Design In COmpany (CODICO), which specializes in the design-in distribution of high-quality active and passive components and connectivity products, comes into play. The new QCS610 reference design enables CODICO to provide customers with technical and commercial support for a chipdown design for the new Snapdragon QCS610 and QCS410 processors. In the course of this, a reference platform enables initial evaluations, performance tests and software developments to be started. The reference design has a memory of 2GB LPDDR4x and 16GB eMMC and also offers numerous interfaces such as USB (Client/Host) Type C, microSD Card, JTAG/UART Debug, Micro HDMI and an integrated RJ45 connector for 1000 Base-T Ethernet.
WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 5.x are also available to the user thanks to the integration of the WCN3980 combo radio chip. Audio support is provided via the integration of the WCD9370 audio codec module (line-in/line-out) and the WSA8815 Class A amplifier module, which allows the connection of an external loudspeaker. The camera is based on the IMX334 image sensor. The new QCS610 reference design is now available and can be ordered online in the CODICO sample store.
