Cyanide damage stopped

Hölscher Wasserbau uses its in-house hw-dsi technology to prevent the spread of cyanide damage in the groundwater. During the construction of a new laboratory building at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences on the Lingen campus, local cyanide contamination was detected in the groundwater.

The source of the contamination is unknown. Before construction work could continue, the cyanide contamination had to be prevented from spreading.

To achieve this, a hydraulic barrier was erected to effectively shield the damage. After extensive calculations and exploratory drilling, 30 DN50 dsi wells were constructed at a depth of around 13 meters. Between 25-30m3 of water per hour is infiltrated via these wells, creating the barrier.
