Six energy-intensive companies will advise the Cluster Decarbonization of Industry (CDI) in the future. As members of the Advisory Board, they will support the CDI Steering Committee in the needs-based development of the cluster into an innovative partner network for a greenhouse gas-neutral industrial future.
The board was officially founded on September 12, 2024 as part of the CDI Summer Summit - the annual network meeting - and is now starting its work. The six advisory companies include the steel group Arcelor Mittal Eisenhüttenstadt, the cement manufacturer Cemex Deutschland AG, the paper producer Felix Schoeller, the aluminium producer Trimet, the container glass manufacturer Wiegand Glas and the galvanizing technology service provider ZinQ.
With its practical economic focus, the new advisory board complements the CDI steering committee, which consists of the four Cottbus-based institutions Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg, the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Energy Infrastructures and Geothermal Energy IEG, the Institute ofLow-Carbon Industrial Processes of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the Competence Center for Climate Protection in Energy-Intensive Industries (KEI). The Advisory Board strengthens the visibility of the energy-intensive industry in the network and provides entrepreneurial and interdisciplinary expertise for the further strategic orientation of the CDI. The companies develop industry positions and thus complement the scientific focus of the steering committee.
