From February 2027, all new traction batteries, batteries for two-wheelers and industrial batteries with a capacity of over 2 kWh placed on the market in the EU will require a digital battery passport. This is intended to ensure transparency and sustainability in the battery value chain, reduce environmental impact and support the secondary recycling of batteries.
The Battery Pass consortium, with the participation of Fraunhofer IPK, is developing content and technical frameworks and recommendations for implementation. From April 22-26, 2024, the draft of a technical reference standard will be presented at the Hannover Messe (Hall 2, Stand B24).
