On October 24, 2024, BG Munich had an extraordinary excursion on the agenda: a visit to ODU GmbH & Co. KG in Mühldorf am Inn. The ODU Group is one of the leading international manufacturers and suppliers of connector systems.

Founded in 1942 by Otto Dunkel, the company currently employs almost 2,700 people worldwide, of which around 1,500 work at its headquarters in Mühldorf am Inn alone. The topic of training has been particularly important to ODU GmbH for years, as the example of Johannes Saß makes clear.

Saß, who made it possible for the BG Munich to attend ODU, first completed his training as an electroplater in Mühldorf and has since advanced to become head of the surface technology department. The DGO Munich district group accepted the invitation to the headquarters in Mühldorf am Inn with 15 members. After the welcoming address, Johannes Saß gave a detailed introduction to the company, which has a vertical range of manufacture of over 80%. Saß proudly reported on the successful development of the company and its ambitious goals for the future. Among other things, the areas of activity of in-house electroplating and a successfully completed process conversion in the chrome sector were presented.

During the subsequent tour of the current production facilities, the visitors were able to gain a lasting impression of the impressive performance of ODU GmbH. After refreshments in the company canteen, the afternoon began with a presentation by Christian Gaugigl. Gaugigl presented interesting insights into the topic of understanding people.

His conclusion: in principle, it is always possible to make mutual communication behavior more effective and sustainable in both personal and business environments. The day was rounded off with a visit to a café in Mühldorf, where the impressions of the day were discussed animatedly in an even more illustrious group until late in the afternoon.
