As is tradition, the DGO Thuringia district group held its annual review for 2024 at the Hotel Tanne in Ilmenau with a preview of 2025. The event included honoring Dr. Adriana Ispas on the occasion of her 10-year membership in the DGO and the election of the district group chairman and his deputy. In the open election, the colleagues M. Sc. Mathias Fritz from the TU Ilmenau were unanimously re-elected as chairman, Dr. Ing. Peter Kutzschbach from the TU Ilmenau as 1st deputy and Steffen Weber from Spaleck GmbH in Greiz as 2nd deputy for a further five years. The re-elected board thanked their colleagues for the trust they had placed in them.

Five events took place in 2024, with the excursion to the Battery Innovation and Technology Center (BITC) attracting particular interest. The 29th Leipzig specialist seminar, organized jointly with DGO BG Sachsen, also attracted a large number of participants. The presentations in 2024 focused on the switch to Cr(III) electrolytes with a field report, fire protection in electroplating companies and climate neutrality with calculation of the carbon footprint. The summer party was also held for the second time at the TU Ilmenau. Overall, the DGO Thuringia district group can look back on a successful year.

Numerous suggestions for topics for 2025 were made by the colleagues present, which will form the basis for the event plan. Among other things, an excursion to the battery plant Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) based in Arnstadt is planned. Other topics such as sustainability reporting in medium-sized companies, digitalization of the Cr(III) process, the state of the art and visions for electroforming and electroforming rack construction will also be discussed. The first event on the topic of new methods for characterizing surfaces, interfaces and materials will take place in January 2025. - Dr. Peter Kutzschbach -
