IHI Hauzer Techno Coating B.V. announces its latest batch coating system for physical vapor deposition (PVD). The new Hauzer Flexicoat® 1250 builds on the successful Flexicoat platform, known for its wide range of technologies. The Flexicoat 1250 has a 33% higher loading capacity compared to the well-known Flexicoat 1200, resulting in even more favorable operating costs. "We developed the Flexicoat 1250 to meet the demands we discovered in the market," says Dave Doerwald, CEO of Hauzer. The Flexicoat platform is known for its wide range of technologies. The Flexicoat 1250 offers seven cathode positions that can be configured according to the customer's requirements, giving these cathodes greater power. This helps to keep cycle times low, even when increasing the chamber diameter and loading capacity. As a result, the Flexicoat 1250 achieves a very good cost-performance ratio per coating in many technologies.
"Performance is one side of the coin when it comes to cycle time," says Doerwald. "The other is cooling. For many commercially important substrates and coatings, such as plastics in the decorative area and tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C) coatings in the tribological and tooling areas, the temperature must remain low during deposition." The Flexicoat 1250 has eight plate positions and an optional retractable central heating and cooling system. Therefore, deposition does not need to be interrupted to avoid exceeding temperature limits and cycle times for demanding coatings and substrates can be kept low.
