A research team has developed a wound plaster with healing-promoting functions that can be customized for each patient. The 3D-printed plaster has an antibacterial effect, supplies the wound with oxygen and moisture and supports the formation of new tissue.
The effect is activated and controlled by irradiation with special light. The newly developed plaster is based on a medical hydrogel. Thanks to its high water content and comparatively large spaces on the microscale, the plaster can optimally treat dry wounds.
