The PCIM Conference Awards were presented at this year's PCIM Conference in Nuremberg. Five contributions from science and industry were honored - including the Best Paper, Young Engineer and Young Researcher Award.
This year, the international advisory board headed by Prof. Dr. Leo Lorenz, ECPE, reviewed more than 450 submissions from which the award-winning papers were selected.
According to the trade fair for power electronics, this year's winners set new standards in the industry with their ideas and are driving forward next-generation technology. Best Paper Awards were presented to:
- Hironori Akiyama, MIRISE Technologies (Japan): 'Low-Loss Active Gate Driver with Surge Voltage Detection for SiC MOSFET'
- Michael Basler, Fraunhofer IAF (Germany): 'Highly-Integrated 1200 V GaN-Based Monolithic Bidirectional Switch'
- Bastian Korthauer, ETH Zurich (Switzerland): 'Improved Insulation Design of Medium-Frequency Transformers Using a Semiconductive Coil Former'
The Young Engineer Award went to Martin Schiestl, Infineon Technologies (Austria), who impressed the jury with his topic 'Compact Highly Integrated 1kW Peak Motor Drive'. The award-winning project is an example of how digital technologies and system innovations can open up new perspectives for power electronics.
The Young Researcher Award was presented to Lena Köhler, Fraunhofer IISB (Germany). According to the jury, her work on 'Machine Learning and Digital Twins for RUL Prediction of DC Semiconductors Circuit Breakers' contributes significantly to the further development of power electronics.
