NILE from iVativ is a stand-alone RF module in ultra-low-power design for high-end IoT applications based on the Nordic nRF52840. It supports Bluetooth 5.0 (BLE) and Thread/ZigBee/ANT/ANT+ and offers an integrated NFC-A tag. The small form factor (10 x 15 x 1.5 mm), the integrated PCB antenna and MHF4 connection make the module particularly developer-friendly. NILE is suitable for various IoT applications such as home automation, wearables, industrial IoT and smart medical, with support for Secure Boot, BLE Secure Connections and Privacy.
With the integrated network and wireless stacks, application APIs and advanced security features supported by ARM Trust Zone Cryptocell-310, this module accelerates time-to-market with lower development costs. The integrated high-performance 32bit/64MHz ARM Cortex-M4 CPU with floating-point unit, 1 MB Flash and 256 KB RAM lowers system costs and provides additional design flexibility. For cost-efficient implementation of high-performance devices with long range (>1000 m) with low power consumption and reliable radio operation, the optimally tuned RF module contains the entire analog front end including crystals in addition to the antenna. It works at operating temperatures from -40 to +85 °C without restrictions with an integrated switching regulator on power supplies of 3 or 5V. The Nordic SDK (Software Development Kit) with application examples and comprehensive documentation covers all functions supported by the module. SDKs are available for BLE, Bluetooth Mesh, Thread, Zigbee, ANT and HomeKit.
