From May 10 to 12, 2022, the international power electronics industry will once again come together live at PCIM Europe after the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 presence events. In addition to the trade fair in Halls 6, 7 and 9 of the Nuremberg exhibition grounds, conference visitors can expect a sophisticated lecture program in a hybrid format. The face-to-face event will be supplemented by a digital platform. There, appointments can be made for the week of the event and all contributions to the forum and conference program can be viewed afterwards. As early as May 4, there will be teaser talks by exhibitors and summaries of the conference highlights as part of the "Digital Warm-up". After the end of the face-to-face event, a 'Digital Follow-up' (with registration) will take place on May 18 to intensify contacts.
The list of exhibited product groups has not changed - the current focus is on electromobility. The list of exhibitors currently includes more than 300 companies, more than half of which are international. The topic of power quality and energy storage will have its own special display area in the 'Batteries & More - Energy Storage' pavilion. This focus will also be taken up in the lecture program of the specialist forum and the user-oriented conference.
There will be three trade fair forums, each with 30 presentations: The E-Mobility Forum offers specialist presentations from well-known exhibitors, including Hitachi Energy, Heraeus and EBV Elektronik. Product innovations from companies such as Semikron and Nexperia will be presented at the Exhibitor Forum in Hall 7. The specialist forum will feature presentations and panel discussions on current research and development topics, including: 'Next Generation BESS Design - Future-oriented Connection Technology for Enabling New Design Architecture' (Phoenix Contact), 'Besides SiC Inverter Numerous Advantages - What are its Impacts on E-Motors?' (Yole Developpement) and 'The Next Level of Wide Bandgap Design - SiC and GaN' (Bodo's Power Systems). The forum will also feature three presentations as part of the 'Women in Engineering' initiative.
The parallel international conference is dedicated to trends in power electronics and, with more than 300 first publications, builds a bridge between research and industry, covering SiC devices, new materials for high-performance storage and photovoltaic power converters.
The program includes, among others:
- 'Proven Power Cycling Reliability of Smart Cut SiC Substrates for Power Devices', Eric Guiot, SOITEC.
- 'Trans-Inductor Voltage Regulator (TLVR): Circuit Operation, Power Magnetic Construction, Efficiency and Cost Trade-offs', David Wiest, Pulse Electronics, USA.
- 'Reliability of Inverters in Photovoltaic Power Systems - A Detailed Field Data Analysis', Felix Kulenkampff, Fraunhofer Institute ISE.
In addition, three special sessions will deal with the following topics: 'Cognitive Power Electronics', 'Advanced Measurement Technology in Power Electronics' and 'Advanced GaN Power Electronics'.
"This year's PCIM Europe conference offers outstanding presentations on key development topics in power electronics," explains Professor Leo Lorenz, Conference Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of PCIM Europe, "including new materials for power modules and their chip structure, interconnection technologies for wide-bandgap devices, future smart energy converter topologies for transportation systems and renewable energy." There will also be keynotes on "Hydrogen - Key Element to Achieve Net ZeroCO2" and "Power Electronics for a Future Sustainable Society", as well as discussions on power electronics for a sustainable society.
PCIM 2022 offers a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience with seven seminars and ten tutorials with renowned industry experts. A new online platform on power electronics with a weekly newsletter and three monthly web conferences will be launched on March 15. Trade fair organizer Mesago has also launched a new series of events with changing trend topics. They each offer six specialist presentations by renowned experts, personal interaction at themed stations run by sponsors ('Meet & Talk'), concluding discussions and get-togethers in attractive locations. The event kicks off on June 27 in Stuttgart with the topic of e-mobility.
