At present - as of June 28 - it looks as if Productronica 2021 could take place as planned as a face-to-face event (with a digital supporting program) at the Munich exhibition center, now with a new date from November 16 to 19.
Messe München is confident that the easing of restrictions on public traffic planned from September will be implemented. Last year, electronica had to be canceled as an in-person event because the international travel restrictions in place at the time prevented this. This year, too, new restrictions could be in store due to the uncertainties surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.
The current regulations stipulate that a kind of pilot trade fair will initially be held on July 10 in the form of "TrendSet", a trade fair for "Interior and Lifestyle". The aim is to test and optimize the current 3G (access for tested, vaccinated and recovered persons) and AHS hygiene regulations (FFP2 masks). The provision of test capacities for visitors is also being considered. Based on the results, the green light will then also be given for Productronica.
According to the trade fair management, 500 exhibitors have now decided to exhibit at the Munich exhibition center. A total of eight halls (A1 to A4, B1 to B4) are planned as exhibition space. The number of visitors permitted follows a complicated formula: how many visitors are allowed per unit of space. The trade fair management is currently calculating one visitor per 10 m² of exhibition space. However, it is trying to ease this restriction with the Bavarian state government as far as possible.
Similar regulations are to apply to Semicon Europa, which is taking place at the same time. Here, too, the last word has not yet been spoken.
