Andrea Alboni from Universal Robots (UR) has been re-elected as a member of the board of the VDMA Robotics Division. At the department meeting, which took place online during the general meeting of the VDMA Robotics + Automation Association, a new board was elected on a rotating basis. A total of eight board members with Chairman Volker Spanier (Epson Deutschland GmbH) will be involved in the areas of trade fair policy, standardization and industry-internal networking, among others, during the term of office from 2021 to 2024. The VDMA Robotics + Automation Association, to which the Robotics Division belongs, has over 350 member companies from the fields of integrated assembly solutions, industrial image processing (machine vision) and robotics. With an annual turnover of €12 billion, the industry is considered a pioneer of manufacturing digitization.
Alboni, General Manager Western Europe at UR, will serve on the board of the VDMA's specialist division for the next three years. In the coming term of office until 2024, the cobot expert will be working to further promote the topic of human-robot collaboration.
In particular, he will focus on reducing the workload of qualified employees and the associated opportunities for companies. "Robots take over monotonous and strenuous tasks in production - often hand in hand with humans - and thus create space for further entrepreneurial development," says Alboni. Skilled workers' capacities are freed up so that they can concentrate on more responsible activities. "This helps to secure our company's innovative strength and future viability in the long term. Together with the Robotics department, I would like to raise awareness of the potential of automation in companies of all sizes and help them to benefit from the advantages."
