As the core component of every electric drive, the battery presents manufacturers with a number of specific challenges. SurTec, together with its sister companies Freudenberg Performance Materials (FPM) and Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST), will be presenting new developments to make batteries for electric drives safer, more durable and more efficient for the first time at the Battery Show Europe from May 23 to 25, 2023 in Stuttgart. While SurTec will be focusing on corrosion protection for battery housings, FPM will be presenting its new Battery Pack Liquid Absorbers.
Heat shields and other solutions for battery systems will be at the center of FST's trade fair presence. "SurTec, like many other companies in the Freudenberg Group, has been a preferred partner of the automotive industry for many years, from the design phase through prototype conception to final mass production," explains Dr. Jens Krömer, Global Markets Manager at SurTec. "When developing new solutions, we benefit from a lively exchange of experience between our sister companies. We are delighted to now be able to present our battery portfolio together."
SurTec's trade fair appearance will focus on the chromium(VI)-free SurTec 650, a bright corrosion protection for light metals that enables ultra-modern battery housings with a reliable and long service life. This makes the product ideal for battery components in electromobility, which are located in the underbody of vehicles due to their design and are therefore permanently exposed to a wide range of environmental influences. SurTec 650 also offers electromagnetic compatibility and is therefore the perfect solution for the surface treatment of battery housings and electronic control unit (ECU) housings, for example. Due to its favorable properties, SurTec 650 has already proven itself in aerospace applications and in the mobile communications sector for the construction of 5G antennas and masts. Surtec and its sister company Freudenberg can be found at stand 10-B30 in Stuttgart.
With their Battery Pack Liquid Absorbers, the experts from Freudenberg Performance Materials will be showcasing an innovative solution that makes battery systems safer overall. The absorbent pads quickly take up moisture and any liquids inside the battery packs and store them reliably. Freudenberg Sealing Technologies, on the other hand, will be presenting the latest developments in heat shields for greater safety as well as the DIAvent battery pressure equalization valve and general battery applications in Stuttgart.
