Days of Industrial Culture at the Museum for Electroplating Technology

On September 2, 2023, the association Deutsches Museum für Galvanotechnik e.V. invites you to the museum rooms in Leipzig as part of the Days of Industrial Culture. The event will take place in Torgauer Straße with a wide-ranging program from 10:00 to 17:00. The cooperation between Deutsches Museum für Galvanotechnik e.V. and IG Historischer Elektromaschinenbau e.V. enables a varied experience, accompanied by snacks and drinks.

The event will begin at 10:15 a.m. with a welcome address by Thilo v. Vopelius, 1st Chairman of the VDMG e.V. Dr. Ulrich Vieweger, 2nd Chairman of the VDMG e.V., will moderate the event. Professor Jörg Freitag from the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences will then offer an insight into the world of electroplating in the 19th century. He will shed light on the materials, techniques and methods used to produce works of art and reproductions. Professor Knut Löschke will then talk about artificial intelligence (AI). The lectures will end at 12:00 and the doors to the museum will be open. Finally, a guided tour of Vopelius Chemie AG by Dr. Henning Knop will follow at 2 pm. Among other things, this will focus on the forward-looking restoration of old industrial buildings. During the course of the day, small coins will be coated live and films will also be shown, including the 1925 film "Langbein-Pfanhauser Werke AG", which shows the working life and everyday social life of the employees of Langbein-Pfanhauser Werke AG in the Golden Twenties.
