Dematic has introduced an online tool for automation solutions. The Dematic Conveyor ConfiKIT streamlines the processes involved in preparing quotations for conveyor systems. Using the app, these can now be individually configured directly at the customer's premises from a kit with standardized modules. This will enable the intralogistics specialist to prepare quotations up to four weeks faster in future. The new application is particularly interesting for smaller projects and interim solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Dematic developed the digital tool in collaboration with the KION Digital division and the two sister companies STILL and Linde Material Handling, which are also part of the KION Group.
"The Dematic Conveyor ConfiKIT is an intuitive online tool that simplifies the planning and quotation process for pallet conveyor technology," says Rainer Buchmann, SVP & Managing Director Dematic Central Europe. As part of the development, the intralogistics specialist has adapted its conveyor technology portfolio and integrated a kit of standardized modules into the tool.
With the Dematic Conveyor ConfiKIT, individual conveyor systems tailored to the customer's requirements can be put together directly on site using a laptop or tablet. It is possible to take into account all parameters, such as the type and size of the goods to be conveyed or the available floor space and environment. The various modules can then be selected with the help of a sophisticated menu. In addition to the type of conveyor, these also include load acceptance points, digital contour and weight checks and transfer points. "The Dematic Conveyor ConfiKIT excludes unsuitable or inappropriate modules and combinations from the outset," explains Buchmann. This guarantees that the individual project planning can be implemented one-to-one at a later stage. In addition, the desired conveyor line can then be displayed in 3D. If everything meets the customer's expectations, the Dematic Conveyor ConfiKIT generates a quotation, optionally including transport and installation costs - a process that previously took considerably longer. Buchmann estimates that the tool saves an estimated four weeks simply due to the improved planning and quotation generation. The standardization and pre-assembly of the modules will also make on-site implementation significantly faster.
In addition to software developers from KION Digital, sales specialists from Linde Material Handling and STILL were also involved in the project. The configurator was developed jointly in just a few months and, according to Buchmann, all sides benefit from it: "On the one hand, the new app optimizes collaboration between the KION brands. On the other hand, customers benefit from streamlined planning and significantly faster processes when implementing their projects.
