The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) has been successful in the "Universities of Excellence" funding line in the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments. The concept "The Research University in the Helmholtz Association | Living the Change" will receive funding, for which a total of 105 million euros was applied for over the next seven years. This makes KIT one of eleven Universities of Excellence selected by the Excellence Commission from a total of 19 applications for funding. The decision was made in Bonn in July.
KIT's successful application is based on the motto "The Research University in the Helmholtz Association | Living the Change" and focuses on three central, interlinked packages of measures: strengthening excellent research and its agility across the entire spectrum from basic research to application, intensive dialog and exchange with society, and offering reliable career paths. In order to meet the requirements, KIT intends to establish 100 new professorships over the next ten years.
