Dr. Martin Metzner was confirmed as the first Chairman of the Board of the German Society for Electroplating and Surface Technology (DGO) in June. The Head of the Electroplating Technology Department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) has been Chairman of the Board since the beginning of 2020. As the technological and scientific competence center of the electroplating industry, the DGO bundles the interests of the research institutes within the electroplating industry and promotes research interests.
Dr. Metzner has been a member of the DGO for many years and was, among other things, a founding member of the Combination Coatings Technical Committee. Last year, he also became Adjunct Professor at the Research Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok (MMrI). Fraunhofer IPA is cooperating with the Thai university to set up the research station energy efficiency in electroplating processes and plants (ECOPLATE).
