RENA expands its portfolio with additive manufacturing

With effect from July 27, RENA Technologies is taking over the former company Hirtenberger Engineered Surfaces (HES), thereby establishing a new Additive Manufacturing (AM) market segment. Together with the existing team, the excellent process know-how and the leading technology Hirtisieren® will be embedded in the RENA corporate structure as a globally positioned company.

The newly founded RENA Technologies Austria (RENA AT) thus acts as the headquarters for activities in the new Additive Manufacturing market segment. RENA AT also acts as a technology and development center for all key areas of electrochemical surface finishing.

The Hirtizing® technology forms the core of the new RENA technology: a powerful tool for the post-treatment of 3D-printed metal parts. Downstream surface treatment is crucial in modern 3D printing technology in order to enable the subsequent use of 3D workpieces. The process represents a precise, automated alternative to conventional post-processing in metal 3D printing that is suitable for mass production.

"We were immediately impressed by the in-depth expertise and efficient implementation in modern production systems tailored to customer requirements," says Peter Schneidewind, CEO of RENA, "the Hirtizing® technology is a perfect addition to RENA's market portfolio." From HES's point of view, RENA is also the logical next step in marketing the technology globally and supplying the international markets of the future. "We are very much looking forward to working with our new colleagues at RENA," adds Dr. Wolfgang Hansal, Managing Director of HES and future Managing Director of RENA AT, "as we can make perfect use of the globally networked RENA structure as a strong basis for the global marketing of our technology. The first industrial machines have been successfully launched on the market and under RENA we can further accelerate the establishment of our promising technology."

"Additive manufacturing is developing into a real building block of industrial production chains and with RENA Additive Manufacturing we are actively shaping this development and setting our course for growth!" Michael Escher, second Managing Director of the newly founded RENA AT, and Peter Schneidewind are delighted, adding: "The new segment opens up a promising new chapter with great growth potential at RENA."
