Saxonia Galvanik expands due to demand for busbars

In the course of the electrification of mobility and electrical infrastructure, current-carrying parts are becoming increasingly important. So-called busbars can be used in the electric motor, in the battery charger or elsewhere in the motor. However, they are also required as contact elements in battery management and for various current-carrying components in the electrical infrastructure.

Saxonia Galvanik in Halsbrücke, Saxony, commissioned a new large-scale facility for electroplating such parts before the turn of the year. This is the company's response to increased demand. The new plant increases the capacity for electroplating current-carrying parts sixfold, and the investment is also the largest in the last ten years.

Busbar Saxonia enhancedOne of several busbars that are plated in HalsbrückeSaxoniaGalvanik has been increasingly active in the automotive industry for several years and has already invested in the expansion of tin plating, nickel plating and passivation of current-carrying parts as barrels or racks. The company had already fully utilized its previous coating capacities in 24/7 operation, as there was a sharp increase in demand in both the electrical industry and e-mobility. In addition to plastic electroplating, where innovative projects for the shielding of connectors and connector housings are implemented, the company is also known for the silver plating of copper contacts for the electrical industry. "Our location is now a major advantage, as we have decades of experience and a good reputation from many projects," says Managing Director Henrik Greschner.

"Our location has become a major asset..."

Numerous customers and suppliers for electromobility and the electrical industry are located in the vicinity of the company, including plants of Volkswagen, Tesla, BMW and Porsche. The company has also already developed further areas for future growth. The new investment was also made with sustainability in mind and was supported by BAFA as part of the federal subsidy for energy efficiency in the economy.
