Until now, they were just good neighbors, now they are a strong alliance for joining technology in the north: The two district associations (BV) Flensburg and Kiel of DVS - Deutscher Verband für Schweißen und verwandte Verfahren e. V. have merged as of January 1, 2021. The more than 360 members were informed about the newly founded DVS District Association Flensburg-Kiel.
"The merger of the two DVS regional offices in the north of Germany will implement a component of the DVS STRATEGY 2025," says Dr. Roland Boecking, Managing Director of DVS. In the new strategic orientation, the association has set itself the goal of revising the structure of its regional and state associations. Among other things, the number of DVS district associations is to be reduced in order to bundle local expertise and exploit synergies.
"The merger of the two neighboring district associations has long been an issue for us in the north," explains Sven Beuster, Managing Director of BV Flensburg. "We are all the more pleased that the merger worked so quickly and smoothly. This means we can offer our members an even more comprehensive range of services and events."
The members of both district associations have already been exchanging technical information and using the event formats of the respective neighboring district for several years. This applies to the welding seminar as well as the exchange of experience for welding supervisors or the DVS district competition "Jugend schweißt". In addition, the boards of both BVs have been cooperating for years and sometimes work across cities.
The new DVS District Association Flensburg-Kiel will inform its members in detail about the merger and future activities in spring, either in a face-to-face event or online. Due to the pandemic, this has so far only been possible to a limited extent.
