After all VDWF events were held as purely digital formats last year, the association's members met in person again for the first time for the 28th Annual General Meeting on September 16. This time, VDWF member Fanuc hosted the event for the 130 or so participants, who traveled to Neuhausen auf den Fildern from all over Germany.

(Photo: VDWF)One of the most important items on the agenda was the election of two board members. Anton Schweiger, Managing Director of Schweiger Formenbau from Uffing, was confirmed in his position as Vice President. And in a ceremonial act, Barbara Ellinger-Walter handed over the baton of Chief Financial Officer to Kathrin Schumacher, Managing Partner of Weschu from Nuremberg. Both Schweiger and Schumacher were elected unanimously and are looking forward to the coming term of office.
In his speech this year, VDWF President Prof. Thomas Seul pointed out how important it is to be present as an association, especially during the pandemic crisis. "Numerous digital formats kept the network together even during coronavirus - but 'being present' also means being perceived in politics with the concerns of the toolmaking industry and helping to make decisions," explained Seul. In this respect, the association has even emerged stronger from the crisis - and has continued to grow in the meantime.
Despite all the positive experiences with online events, the VDWF members showed that they missed the personal, non-virtual meeting with like-minded people last year, especially during the joint discussions during the breaks and in conversations before and long after the meeting. The technical discussions were correspondingly lively, so that at the end of the successful event, the members were able to start the new financial year with fresh ideas and plenty of energy.
