The German Association for the Surface Finishing of Aluminium (VOA) presents the results of the VOA project group "Process Documentation" founded in summer 2020: With the comprehensive document packages "Anodization" and "Coating", the association exclusively supports all VOA member companies in these two areas in order to document the quality in their productions and possibly leverage potential for improvement. The technically skilled experts also emphasized the practical implementation of the specifications of the international quality marks QUALANOD and QUALICOAT. The forms are user-friendly, based on Microsoft Excel, and contain sample content that can be practically adapted to the respective operational conditions and integrated into the in-house quality assurance system.
The "Process Documentation" project group began its work in May of last year in order to facilitate the daily work of VOA member companies by developing a standardized documentation form for self-monitoring. In several online meetings, they created the two document packages "Anodization" and "Coating". These include the plant-specific process instructions, the production control plan and the visualization of critical process features for both surface finishing processes.
In addition, the project group also took into account the documentation requirements in the QUALANOD and QUALICOAT specifications, whose general licensee is the VOA in Germany. With the control register and the overview of quality inspections according to the two international quality times, the document packages contain additional, useful supplementary tools. "All VOA member companies can also use the document packages to optimize their quality assurance, whether with or without a license for an international quality mark," explains VOA Managing Director Dr. Alexa A. Becker. And she emphasizes: "We would like to thank all participants in the project group for their efforts in creating the practical and useful documents from which our member companies can now benefit."
Interested VOA members can find the "Anodization" and "Coating" process documentation packages as well as the "General Section", which applies to both areas, exclusively and free of charge at www.voa.de after logging into the download area of the homepage. Of course, the documents can also be obtained directly from the VOA office. It also provides information on technical online instruction for the two packages, which the VOA offers its members as an additional service.
