With a new cleaning appliance, Miele now offers a compact solution for demanding cleaning tasks in industrial parts cleaning. The PLW 8636 IPC model is only 90 centimeters wide. It cleans metal, plastic or electronic parts such as solder frames and circuit boards, as well as optics, watches, medical instruments and implants.
The technical highlights include the most powerful circulation pump in this appliance class, a programmable logic controller (PLC), a particularly powerful drying unit, optimized spray arms and an easy-to-operate touch colour display. The appliance is initially available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and will gradually be introduced in other countries.
Miele - 125 years old, 23,500 employees
For more than 125 years, Miele has been widely known as a quality brand for premium domestic appliances. In addition, there are machines, systems and services for commercial use, for example in hotels or care facilities, as well as in medical technology. The company has been owned by the two founding families Miele and Zinkann since 1899 and generated sales of 5.04 billion euros in the financial year 2024 with around 23,500 employees.
The "heart" of all functions in the machines for industrial parts cleaning is the industry-proven PLC control system, which can be used to flexibly create your own programs in addition to the 26 permanently installed programs. The water volumes and pump speed can be adjusted as required via three performance levels. Authorized personnel can also change all other process parameters via a large, intuitive touch colour display with full text display in order to precisely coordinate the processes.
Full effect in every cleaning and rinsing phase
The built-in frequency-controlled circulation pump is designed for up to 600 liters of water flow per minute, making it the most powerful in this compact appliance class. As the speed can be controlled as required, the spray arms are fully effective in every program phase - even at maximum load. All basket spray arms are equipped with nozzles at the top and bottom which, in combination with the powerful pump, enable a particularly homogeneous spray pattern. This efficiently removes filmic and particulate contamination, protects sensitive parts and ensures that all parts are technically clean in a reliable and repeatable manner. The details of the machine have been well thought out - from the instantaneous water heater for the process water located outside the wash cabinet, the gap-free welded stainless steel wash cabinet to the integrated water softener, which can be regenerated using a separate program. A conductivity sensor and redundant temperature sensors monitor the cleaning and rinsing processes. The new appliance can also be equipped with additional optional control functions: Up to four dosing pumps that can be adjusted to the respective applications and up to four flow meters that can be calibrated also create the best conditions for repeatable cleaning results. When cleaning materials that must not only come into contact with pure water, detergent and water can also be fed into the wash cabinet at the same time. A high degree of soiling of the parts to be cleaned is therefore no problem, even without manual pre-cleaning.
More air power for drying than ever before
The new drying unit is more powerful than ever before, with a 10 % increase in air output. An upstream and easily accessible HEPA filter H14 effectively removes particles from the drying air. The appliance therefore meets the highest requirements for technical cleanliness in accordance with VDA 19 or ISO 16232 and is even suitable for cleanroom applications.
With an ergonomic loading height of just 80 centimetres, the appliance is easy to load and unload. The tried-and-tested "EasyLoad" loading system uses baskets and inserts to ensure convenient and safe positioning of industrial parts. When open, the sturdy appliance door can be loaded with up to 50 kilograms. There is a convenient and space-saving drawer for storing cleaning agents.
The cleaning appliance can be connected to a local network via an Ethernet connection. Process documentation systems can be connected via REST/JSON-based communication, which ensures both fast data transfer and transmission in a wide variety of formats. The advantage in day-to-day work: the existing infrastructure can still be used and costs and effort remain manageable.
