The new GalTest control system from Italian manufacturer La Fonte analyzes the parameters of electroplating baths - all in one device.
La Fonte, known in the fields of filtration treatment, cleaning of galvanic baths, recovery of precious and non-precious metals, has recently developed and launched a control system called GalTest for the analysis of galvanic baths.
The great advantage of this device is that all the instrumentation for its operation is concentrated in a single small and functional structure made of fireproof and flame-retardant polypropylene (PPS). The test liquid container (the so-called cell) is also positioned on a removable trolley made of PPS, with a system for collecting any leaking drops.
The GalTest instrumentation consists of:
- PMMA electrolytic cell with standard dimensions (volume 256 ml) to reproduce the state of the deposition process of the bath to be tested
- Rectifier with output voltage 0-10 V and current 0-10 A with display (minimum resolution: 0.1 V and 0.01 A)
- Timer with acoustic signal to regulate the test time, integrated in the display
- Electrical resistance for heating the liquid
- Adjustable gear motor for the mechanical movement of the liquids
- Adjustable insufflation system for the air movement of the liquid
- System of anodes, cathodes and terminals connected to the current rectifier.
The purpose of the GalTest is to analyze galvanic baths, by introducing the appropriate liquid into the cell in which the corresponding plate (cathode) is immersed, usually made of iron or brass, and finally setting the necessary parameters to simulate the deposition process. From the data obtained, it is possible to check the following parameters:
- Adhesion of the coating to the base metal
- Possible internal stresses
- Presence of metallic impurities
- Balance and content of additives
- Optimization of the current density
- Other possible values.
