Die Herausforderung, galvanische Überzüge aus unedlen Metallen zu erzeugen, liegt in der Tatsache, dass diese ein stark negatives Standardpotential aufweisen. Demnach ist die Abscheidung aus wässrigen Lösungen nicht oder nur bedingt möglich. Als neuartige Abscheidemedien bieten die ionischen Flüssigkeiten (ILs) nicht nur eine einzigartige Perspektive solch unedle Metalle abzuscheiden, sondern führen auch zu aktuellen Herausforderungen. //Especially under strong corrosive environmental con- ditions, no optimal corrosion protection has been developed yet. A good alternative are base metals, such as refractory metals (e. g. Niobium and Tantalum), or Aluminum. The challenge of producing galvanic coatings from base metals is due to the fact that those metals have a strongly negative standard potential. Accordingly, the deposition from aqueous solutions is not possible or is only possible conditionally. As a novel deposition media, ionic liquids (ILs) offer not only a unique perspective to deposit such base metals, but it also lead to current challenges.
