As an independent, non-profit research institute, the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) stands for innovative research, development and consulting. Funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour, Transport and Digitalization, the LZH is dedicated to the selfless promotion of applied research in the field of photonics and laser technology. Founded in 1986, almost 200 employees now work at the LZH.
The LZH focuses on the fields of optical components and systems, optical production technologies and biomedical photonics. The interdisciplinary collaboration between natural scientists and mechanical engineers enables innovative approaches to challenges in a wide range of fields. To date, 18 successful spin-offs have emerged from the LZH. The LZH thus creates a strong transfer between basic science, application-oriented research and industry.
