New professorship for generative laser process technology

Stefan Kaierle, Scientific and Technical Managing Director of the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH), has accepted the appointment as Professor of Generative Laser Process Technology as of August 15, 2021 in a joint appointment procedure of Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) and the LZH.

The new professorship is based at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Dr.-Ing. Stefan Kaierle has been lecturing on lasers in biomedical engineering since 2012 and now also on laser-based additive manufacturing. Stefan Kaierle studied electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University. In 1999, he completed his doctorate in mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University on the topic of "Autonomous production cell for welding with laser radiation". From 1998 to 2011, he headed the Systems Engineering department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology in Aachen. From 2012 to 2018, he was Head of the Materials and Process Technology Department at the LZH. Stefan Kaierle has been a member of the LZH Board of Directors and Scientific and Technical Managing Director since 2018.
