Aluminum is the material of the future. As the third most common element in the earth's crust, it is available in almost unlimited quantities, is very easy to recycle and is ideal wherever weight savings, protection, stability and corrosion resistance are required.
With very sharp cutting edges, aluminum is generally easy to machine, but tends to build up. The HiPIMS coating material AluCon, which is based on TiB2, is ideal for machining. Thanks to the layer thickness of 2 µm and the fine crystal structure, it is particularly suitable for machining aluminum with sharp cutting edges. It also provides excellent protection against built-up edges.
The result: significantly longer tool life. The very good adhesion combined with the high hardness of 5,000 HV0.05 and improved ductility enables top performance in wet and dry machining - and with increased cutting data.
