From October 25 to 28, 2018, the third doctoral seminar of the Department of Electrochemistry and Electroplating (ECG) of the Ilmenau University of Technology took place in Ostwestfalen Lippe (OWL). All doctoral students in the department were invited to the seminar. In the ECG department, headed by Professor Andreas Bund, some doctoral students work directly in the premises and laboratories of the TU Ilmenau, but a large proportion are employed in companies and research institutes.
The aim of the events is therefore to network doctoral students working externally and internally, exchange experiences and identify opportunities for complementarity and collaboration.
In addition to presenting and discussing their doctoral topics, the doctoral students gave their own presentations on the theoretical foundations of electrochemistry and instrumental analysis and discussed them in an open exchange. The supporting program included visits to the companies Kiesow Dr. Brinkmann GmbH & Co KG in Detmold and their sites as well as a tour of the company Dr. Hesse GmbH & Cie KG in Bielefeld. There was also an opportunity to talk to each other in a relaxed atmosphere and exchange ideas about the doctorates.
The feedback from the doctoral candidates about the event was very positive and confirmed the high number of participants of twelve doctoral candidates. The next meeting is expected to take place at Ilmenau University of Technology in early 2019.
