Architects, engineers, steel and metal fabricators, locksmiths, artistic blacksmiths, designers and building owners can enter the competition for the Galvanizing Prize for Architecture and Metal Design until 1 March 2023.
The prize, endowed with 15,000 euros, has been awarded for more than 30 years and honors innovative buildings, objects and products that are hot-dip galvanized to a significant extent or contain interesting hot-dip galvanized details. An independent, high-caliber jury selects the winners in the two categories of architecture and metal design. The competition announcement with application form for the 2023 Galvanizing Award is available for download at www.verzinkerpreis.de.
The Industrieverband Feuerverzinken e. V. and its service organization, Institut Feuerverzinken GmbH, represent the German batch galvanizing industry. In 2021, more than 2 million tons of steel were batch galvanized in Germany. Important areas of application for corrosion protection using hot-dip galvanizing include architecture and construction as well as transport technology and vehicle construction. Hot-dip galvanizing is also increasingly being used for its fire protection properties. Hot-dip galvanized steel is a sustainable, circular material and also plays an important role in energy transformation, including the expansion of power grids and the expansion of wind and solar energy.
