Lars Baumgürtel is the new IHK President of North Westphalia

Lars Baumgürtel (58), Managing Partner of Zinq GmbH & Co. KG, Gelsenkirchen, and member of the Board of the German Surface Technology Association (ZVO), was elected President of the IHK Nord Westfalen in April 2025. He succeeds Dr. Benedikt Hüffer.

Baumgürtel has been involved in the IHK on a voluntary basis since 1998, including as Chairman of the Industry Committee and spokesperson for the "In|du|strie - Gemeinsam.Zukunft.Leben." initiative, which aims to modernize the public image of industry. He has been a member of the IHK General Assembly since 2015 and a member of the Presidium since 2016.

Zinq is the European market leader in galvanized corrosion protection. The company develops sustainable surfaces for durable steel products. Baumgürtel is committed to the climate-neutral transformation of industry and supports initiatives such as the "Gelsenkirchen Climate Port", which is to be transformed into a climate-neutral industrial and logistics location, as well as the "Circular Performer" project, which is committed to a circular economy in the Emscher-Lippe region.
