The Leverkusen-based steel processor Wuppermann uses an innovative process for strip galvanizing at its sites in the Netherlands and Austria that saves up to 43 percent_{of CO2 emissions}. A_{CO2 calculator} on the company's website now calculates how much_CO2 per tonne of hot-dip galvanized steel strip customers can actually save individually.

This is the result of a study by the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology (UMSICHT), which Wuppermann commissioned in summer 2020.

The_{CO2 savings} at the Moerdijk site in the Netherlands amount to 57 grams per kilogram of hot-dip galvanized steel strip, and at the Judenburg site in Austria even 78 grams. This corresponds to an advantage of 31% and 43% respectively compared to the standard galvanizing process on the market.

With Wuppermann's new_{CO2 calculator}, customers and interested parties can now individually determine how much_CO2 they save per tonne of hot-dip galvanized steel and what_{CO2 equivalents} this corresponds to - for example, how many trees would have to be planted to offset the corresponding_{amounts of CO2}.
