Wolfram Industrie expands production capacities

After several years of searching for a suitable location, construction work on the new headquarters of Gesellschaft für Wolfram Industrie mbH will begin in Nußdorf in fall 2020. The new building is planned with a usable area of 7,000 m² and thus offers around 40 percent more space than the current company headquarters in Traunstein. The expansion was urgently needed due to the continued high demand in all business areas, particularly in the electrode business, as well as the expansion of the service lines. At the same time, work began in October 2020 on the expansion of the sister company Bayerische Metallwerke GmbH in Dachau. The total investment amounts to around 20 million euros.

"Due to the continuous development of our products, the increased demand for TIG electrodes made in Germany and the expansion of our customer service, we have seen steady growth in recent years," reports Managing Partner Marion Freifrau von Cetto. "This has naturally also resulted in increased space requirements for production and administration at our sites in Traunstein and Dachau.

In Traunstein, Gesellschaft für Wolfram Industrie mbH had been looking for a suitable site for the new building for several years and finally found it in Nußdorf, 5 km from the current location. Construction work on the new building will begin in fall 2020. With a floor space of 7,000 m², divided into 6,500 m² of production area and 500 m² of office space, it is almost 2,000 m² larger than the existing building. "For the machinery, we are planning on the one hand with our existing systems, some of which are custom-made products that are no longer manufactured in this way," explains Sebastian von Cetto, Managing Director of Wolfram Industrie GmbH and Production Manager at the Dachau site. "On the other hand, we are of course also investing in new high-end machines to further increase the high quality of our customized products." Completion is planned for spring 2023.

New production space is also being created at the Dachau site at sister company Bayerische Metallwerke GmbH through an extension, which should be ready for occupancy in July 2021. The additional 700 m² will increase the production capacity of mechanical production by 100 percent, and a training workshop will also be set up in the new premises. "In recent years, we have been able to continuously expand our position as a producer of quality electrodes and win many new customers thanks to our service concept. In order to continue to meet customer requirements and position the company well for the future, it was necessary to invest in both sites," summarizes Sebastian von Cetto.
